I always welcome older siblings to all of my sessions. It’s best to bring an extra adult to keep an eye on them as they often need someone to keep them occupied during parts of the session. Especially for newborn shoots as these can take a little longer.
This all depends on the session booked. First Birthday/Cake Smash sessions usually last around an hour. I like to allow at least an hour and a half for this session just in case it takes baby a little while to feel comfortable in front of the camera. They may also need lots of cuddles throughout the session.
Newborn and family sessions take longer, usually around 2 hours. Again, this depends on how baby is on the day. Baby may need feeds and comfort throughout the session.
For a newborn shoot just pop baby in a little white vest, I have a selection of neutral outfits here if you wanted to change baby during the session.
For a First birthday/cake smash you are welcome to bring 2 outfits. One outfit for portraits then one for the cake smash. As you’ll see from the galleries, I keep the sessions simple. I recommend bringing white or neutral coloured outfits however, I’m always happy to add a little colour if this is what you would like. I do have a selection of outfits here that you can pick from.
Parents and siblings also need to wear outfits that match with baby, plain neutral colours are preferred (whites, beige, browns), these colours are easily coordinated and are timeless. Please avoid patterns, characters and bright colours. I’m always happy to discuss outfit choices when booking your session.
Babies will usually always cry at some point during their session so don’t worry at all. I allow extra time for sessions so that there is plenty of time to feed and cuddle newborns. The session is always led by the baby, I keep them relaxed and simple. Baby will often get themselves into cute comfy positions. This allows me to capture baby exactly as they are. If no amount of milk, cuddles or time settles your little one and they are unhappy throughout then we will rebook for another day when they are happier.
This is the same for other sessions as well as with older babies, if your little one does not settle for any photos at all or becomes really upset then I will offer a reshoot. I wouldn’t want my baby becoming distressed and uncomfortable and wouldn’t want yours to be put in that position either.
I always allow up to 2 weeks to deliver the images. I briefly edit the images and send your gallery over to you within a couple of days. You then pick the images you would like. Once I receive this I will edit and send over the final images usually within a week.
